Kaunas Arena

Kaunas Arena is a multi-purpose venue on Nemunas Island in Kaunas, Lithuania’s second-largest city. The Zalgirio Arena is located on a street named Karaliaus Mindaugo and is the home venue of basketball team Kauno Zalgiris.

Construction began in August 2008, with the foundation stone laid on 26 September that year. The hall was officially opened on 18 August 2011, shortly before the start of the European Basketball Championships, and all matches in the final round of the competition were played there. On 5 December 2014, Lithuanian group Sel played a concert at the venue in front of a record crowd of 20,517.

From 22 to 28 April 2018, the hall hosted the Division I B tournament of the Men’s World Ice Hockey Championships (IIHF). The arena boasts the largest video cube anywhere in the Baltic region or Scandinavia. It is built into the ceiling of the main hall. One of the screens measures 21.5 sqm.
