FC Blue Stars Zurich, founded in 1898, are a club steeped in tradition and formed a youth team as early as 1921 before staging its first international juniors competition in 1939. FIFA assumed the patronage of the "Blue Stars Tournament" in 1991, before re-branding it in 1995 as the Blue Stars/FIFA Youth Cup, which is staged jointly by FIFA and FC Blue Stars Zurich.
