FIFA President sees Al Ahly clinch dramatic CAF Super Cup win

Al Ahly of Egypt edged Morocco's Raja Casablanca of Morocco 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw to win a CAF Super Cup thriller.

The Egyptian heavyweights had reached the final in Doha after lifting the CAF Champions League title for a record 10th time. And while Raja had looked set to lift the trophy after taking the lead in the 13th minute, Taher Mohamed's last-minute equaliser salvaged Al Ahly's hopes and sent the game to spot kicks.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF President Patrice Motsepe were on hand in the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Doha to present captain Mohamed El Shenawy with the trophy. It represented a triumphant return to Qatar for El Shenawy, who had participated in this month's inaugural FIFA Arab Cup™ in the country along with several players from both sides in the Super Cup.

Al Ahly now have the chance to add yet more silverware to their bulging trophy cabinet when they play in February's FIFA Club World Cup in UAE.
