FIFA President kicks off 100th anniversary celebrations of Estonian FA in Tallinn

FIFA President Gianni Infantino marked the start of celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Estonian Football Association (EJL) in Tallinn on Friday. Following a visit of the association’s training centre, the FIFA President held discussions with a delegation, led by EJL President Aivar Pohlak.

“I am very proud and happy to be here on the eve of this anniversary,” said Mr Infantino at the A. Le Coq Arena. “The Estonian Football Association is doing incredible work in terms of their community and investment in youth. It is a great pleasure to see their football development programmes, and the positive changes since my last visit in the country three years ago.”

The FIFA President also attended meetings at the Tallinn’s City Hall, led by Mayor of Tallinn Mihhail Kolvart and Deputy Mayor Vadim Belobrovtsev, before a visit to the Parliament of Estonia to meet Minister of Culture Anneli Ott and Minister of Finance Keit Pentus-Rosimannus.

“We see there is great support at local and national level towards the work of the association,” the FIFA President added. “This will, for sure, pave the way for continued development, particularly in relation to infrastructure.”

The EJL was founded in December 1921 and became a FIFA member association two years later.
