FIFA President congratulates AFC Champions League winners Al Hilal

FIFA President Gianni Infantino was among a large crowd at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh to see Al Hilal deliver a record-breaking victory in the final of the 2021 AFC Champions League. "It was my pleasure to be in attendance and to hand the trophy to captain Salman Al-Faraj, as the team secured their place in the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup" said the FIFA President.

Earlier in the day, joined by FIFA Legend Tim Cahill, the FIFA President was welcomed to the country by Yasser Al Misehal, President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF). "We discussed the depth and development of relations between the SAFF and other international federations, and reflected on Saudi Arabia’s growing role in staging international and continental events as well as the continued development of football throughout the Kingdom – particularly the commencement, just this week, of the first-ever edition of the Saudi Women’s Football League" he added.

"I was honoured to watch the evening’s final alongside Mr Al Misehal and the President of the Asian Football Confederation, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa. The attendance of 50,171 supporters was yet another sign of the strength of football in this part of the world – something we hope to showcase further during the FIFA Arab Cup 2021, which begins in under a week’s time, and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022."
